He noted that to bomb people under siege who have been forced to starvation and misery in the 21st century has wounded humanity's common conscious. He also called international organizations, such as the United Nations, European Union, Organization for the Islamic Conference, and Arab League, as well as civil society organizations, to act immediately and take steps that would comfort the common conscious of humanity. He added that this event has deeply wounded every human being and said "The impact of this event has been particularly devastating on those who believe that in our age of progress and civilization, human beings can reach to reasonable and humane solutions to problems. Considering myself among them, I would like to express my deep pain and to emphasize the need for insisting to search for humane solutions."

Fethullah Gülen also noted the timing of the Gazza attacks. He stressed: "Israel has bombed innocent civilians at a time when the United States was preparing to withdraw troops from Iraq and the opportunity of following a more peaceful way has appeared for the Obama administration given the lessons from the Bush administration." He said that it was unacceptable to take steps that would close the roads to peace. Gülen reminded that the Israel's positive responses to the initiatives of the Republic of Turkey had given hope about peace in the region and continued: "It is worrying that a country that is located in one of the oldest places on earth and represents one of the most ancient civilizations behaves as if there is no other way than the use of force. Violence targeting such a small group of people who do not have yet a state can damage the balance in the Middle East. It can turn the Middle East into an arena of conflict by escalating the tension in the region."
